The role of volunteers of the Accessibility Center is to provide services that will enhance the:
- Academic accessibility of students with disabilities and/or special educational needs
- Social accessibility of students with disabilities and/or special educational needs
- Physical accessibility of students with disabilities and/or special educational needs to the facilities of the University of Thessaly
- Improvement of their daily life quality during their academic life
- Awareness-raising and informing the community of the University of Thessaly, as well as the local community, about disability issues
If you want to become a volunteer of the Accessibility Center, you can participate in various ways. The areas of activities for volunteers of the Accessibility Center are two and you can participate in one or both of them. It is important to know that you will have support of the Accessibility Center’s staff throughout your volunteering journey. «Εν Δράσει» – Raising awareness Activities
- Searching for volunteers and informing them about the Accessibility Center’s volunteer program and relevant actions
- Organizing informational and awareness-raising events about disability
- Participating in cultural and scientific events of the University of Thessaly and other local organizations
- Searching for local organizations to collaborate with
«Στηρίξου σε Μένα» – Activities to support students with disabilities and/or special educational needs
Volunteers of the Accessibility Center can support students with disabilities and/or special educational needs in the following actions:
- Welcoming students with disabilities and/or special educational needs and introducing them to the facilities and services of the University of Thessaly
- Social inclusion activities
- Moving around the premises of the University of Thessaly
- Use of assistive technology and electronic applications
- Communicating with the teaching and administrative staff of the University of Thessaly
- Participation in classes (note-taking, Greek Sign Language interpretation, explanations)

Adaptation of educational materials in accessible formats (e.g. Braille)
